KARI RAGAN, soprano

Soprano Kari Ragan makes her debut with Maestro Scott and the Helena Symphony as “Giannetta” in Donizetti’s Elixir of Love. Ms. Ragan made her operatic debut as the three heroines in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Spokane Opera, and has been continually praised for her sparkling lyric coloratura voice and dynamic stage presence.
Ms. Ragan is a versatile performer, at home in oratorio, opera or musical theatre genres. She has performed the roles of “Giannetta” in Elixir of Love with Opera Idaho, “Frasquita” in Carmen with Washington East Opera, “Gretel” in Lake Chelan Bach Festival’s production of Hansel and Gretel, and “Serpetta” in the Oregon premiere of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. Her concert engagements have included performances of Carmina Burana, Honneger’s King David, Haydn’s Creation, Bach’s Cantata Jauchzett Gott in allen Landen, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Handel’s Messiah.
Ms. Ragan holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of Washington and bachelors and masters degrees from Indiana University. Among other awards, she was a District Winner for the Metropolitan Opera National Council and a Regional Finalist for the MacCallister Competition. Ms. Ragan lives in Issaquah, Washington, where she maintains a full time voice studio and performance career.
