responsive and dedicated.”
Soprano Janeanne Houston makes her debut with Maestro Scott
and the Helena Symphony in Handel’s Messiah. Ms.
Houston has been a guest artist with many distinguished choruses
and orchestras including Seattle Symphony, Oregon Symphony,
Northwest Chamber Orchestra, Northwest Sinfonietta, Eugene
Symphony and Opera, Great Falls Symphony, and Spokane Symphony.
Her opera credits include “Konstanze” in Mozart’s Abduction
from the Seraglio for Tacoma Opera, the role of “Mary” with
Jerome Hines in his Biblical opera I am the Way, “Susanna” in Le
Nozze di Figaro, “Violetta” in La
Traviata, “Blanche” in Dialogues of
the Carmelites, and “Michaela” in Carmen.
Concert performances include Verdi’s Requiem, Brahms’ Requiem,
Haydn’s The Creation, Mozart’s Mass
in C minor, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Rachmaninoff’s The
Bells, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Handel’s Messiah.
Ms. Houston’s latest recording is of world premieres
by living composers titled The Shining Place. Other
recordings include Songs of the Cotton Grass featuring
the music of composer Hilary Tann, The Irish Songs of
Sir Hamilton Harty, So Great a Joy, Living Mysteries, and So
Much Beauty. Her recordings have been broadcast
on radio stations across the country and were featured on
the syndicated radio program With Heart and Voice and New
Releases on Minnesota Public Radio.
Ms. Houston spent her childhood years in Myanmar, India,
and the Phillippines. She received her education at
Ottawa University and University of Washington and is presently
a member of the voice faculty at Pacific Lutheran University.
