Tenor Dan Snyder has earned impressive reviews and a loyal
audience. The Baltimore Sun has commended him for
his “sturdy vibrant tenor”, and the Washington
Post has praised his “radiant upper range”.
Spotlighted recently by the Washingtonian Magazine as
one of a “select group of rising professional singers”,
A consistent and dynamic performer, he has appeared with Opera International,
the Washington Opera, and at the George Mason Center for the Arts in 2004 as
Calaf in a concert presentation of Turandot. Recently he performed as
Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Annapolis Opera, as the Young Sailor
in Tristan und Isolde with Virginia Opera. Engagements in 2005/06 season
included Alfredo in La Traviata with Virginia Opera, and a return to
Wagnerian repertoire with Siegmund in Die Walküre at Opera Theater
of Pittsburgh, and Siegfried in both Siegfried and Götterdämmrung with
Long Beach Opera and with Opera Theater Pittsburgh. He will appear in 2006-2007
as Don Jose in Carmen with Shreveport Opera, as Jimmy Mahoney in The
Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny with Opera Boston, and be in the
recording project of Kurt Weill’s Eternal Road with Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester
Berlin with G. Schwarz conducting.
Highlights of Mr. Snyder’s concert credits include Handel’s Messiah with
the Kennedy Center Orchestra, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with
Charlottesville Oratorio Society, Messiah with New Dominion Chorale,
with which he also sang Carmina Burana and Beethoven’s Choral
Fantasy, the Verdi Requiem with Washington D.C.’s Masterworks
Chorale and the Charlottesville Oratorio Society. He appeared with the National
Philharmonic in the Dvorak Stabat Mater. He also sang in a revival of
Kurt Weill’s Eternal Road at the Manhattan School of Music under
the direction of Gerard Schwarz. Recently he sang at the Winter Park Bach Festival
in the Rossini Stabat Mater, and performed a role composed for him in
the new oratorio “Mary” by Aaron Garber, as well as the
Verdi Requiem with the Sioux City Symphony in 2005/2006. Upcoming appearances
include Mozart Requiem with the Washington Bach Consort and a Gala concert
with Annapolis Symphony. He is scheduled to appear with the Bowling Green Chamber
Orchestra in a program of Neapolitan songs in 2008.
As a recitalist, Dan Snyder has been featured at the Lisner Auditorium with Washington
Opera Camerata in a televised program of Italian arias, and on a televised program
of Meyerbeer arias. He has performed Janacek’s song cycle Diary of
One Who Vanished at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Viennese operetta
at the Hungarian Embassy, as well as appearances at the Italian and British Embassies.
