Masterworks Concert I: Opening Night - Stewart Goodyear Plays Gershwin

Celebrating the Symphony’s new Bompart Steinway Piano, the Helena Symphony opens its 55th Season with world renowned Pianist Stewart Goodyear performing Gershwin’s great American concerto – the perfect combination of jazz and classical music to start the season.

Non-Subscription Concert II: The Nutcracker with Queen City Ballet

Sunday, 13 December 2009, 3:00 p.m., Helena Civic Center
Queen City Ballet and the Helena Symphony join forces to jointly produce the most beloved ballet. Some of the nation’s top level professional dancers join the company of Queen City Ballet complete with the Helena Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony’s resident children’s choruses. Usher in the holiday season with two performances of The Nutcracker.

Masterworks Concert IV: Shostakovich & Brahms

Student Assistance Foundation Youth Concert: Peter VERSUS The Wolf!
Thursday, 18 March 2010, 1:00 p.m
Nearly 2,000 fourth and fifth graders are invited through their school music programs to attend a concert, a play, and even a courtroom drama, all while learning the importance of music in one’s education and life.
Tickets are not sold for this concert – students attend through their school music program.
Masterworks Concert V: Vive la France
Saturday, 27 March 2010, 7:30 p.m., Helena Civic Center
The rich, polished French sounds of Maurice Ravel’s famous Piano Concerto continue the Symphony’s celebration of “The Year of the Piano” with brilliant piano new-comer Christopher Guzman. Couple the rich Ravel with the beautifully redeeming Requiem of Maurice Duruflé and you are in store for meditative, relaxing, and spiritually enriching sounds that are uniquely French.

Masterworks Concert VI: Annual Evening at the Opera - BARBER of SEVILLE
Saturday, 24 April 2010, 7:30 p.m., Helena Civic Center
The “pre-quel” to the story of The Marriage of Figaro, Rossini’s Barber of Seville is another wonderful comedy depicting the adventures of Figaro the barber, and his attempts to help the Count win over the young beautiful Rosina. In an opera of outrageous mayhem, silliness, and pure joy, Rossini’s riotous romp is the perfect opera for first time opera-goers. “Figaro, Figaro, Figaro, FI-GA-RO!”
