  • Debra,

We recently moved to the Helena area, so excited I was able to get tickets for Christmas in the Cathedral!!

    • Carolyn Rogers,

I would love to experience a better Christmas concert than last years program!

      • Patron Services,

The sacred space of the Cathedral requires us to perform music that is deemed appropriate for that space (meaning secular holiday music is not really permissible), so we generally try to focus on works that work well in that space. Also the “performance space” in the Cathedral has a weight restriction which limits us performing works that use the full orchestra.

Over the year we have offered “lighter” family oriented concerts, like Family Holiday Concert, but they simply did not sell as well as Christmas in the Cathedral which is a 50 year tradition in Helena with the Helena Symphony. Concerts costs over $45k-$50k per concert so we need to prioritize some things, and HANDEL’s Messiah (generally performed every other year) is considered THE most popular work of all time. We offer plenty of programs for kids (Symphony Kids and Youth Concert), and many other family friend events (Symphony Under the Stars)
