MASTERWORKS CONCERTS
After a Season of live broadcast concerts and HomeStream Your Helena Symphony presented by AARP Montana, the Helena Symphony is proud to announce the 2021-2022 Season and the return of in-person concerts. “We are so grateful to AARP Montana and the many sponsors and donors who ensured that thousands of people around the world were able to experience the live broadcast performances this past year,” explains Symphony President Patrick Keim.
Current subscribers can renew their seats at early renewal prices starting April 16, and before season tickets are on sale to the general public on June 4. Tickets are also on sale for this year’s special Benefit Concert at Montana Ting – a red carpet event on Saturday, June 26. See the Benefit Concert listing below for details about this unique event.
The Helena Symphony is the oldest year-long performing arts organization in Helena, and its 67th Season features over 30 critically acclaimed guest artists, nearly two dozen masterworks of music, and 16 exciting performances. In addition to the six Masterworks Concerts in the subscription series, subscribers can also secure their tickets now for the special Benefit Concert and the Non-Series Concerts, including Christmas in the Cathedral and Mozart By Candlelight.
Highlights of the Season include renowned guest artists, such as superstar Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Pianist Jon Nakamatsu, acclaimed Israeli-American Cellist Amit Peled, the return of Russian Pianist Anna Kislitsyna, and nearly 20 well-noted singers, many of whom are regulars at the world’s leading opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera. “Ticket renewals come in very quickly, so we encourage people to renew your tickets soon and take advantage of this special offer that only lasts for about 6 weeks,” explains Director of Patron Services Scott Kall.
Other Season highlights include exciting programs of incredible symphonic works, including Berlioz’s popular Symphonie fantastique, Stravinsky’s legendary Rite of Spring, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet, along with works by Mozart, Haydn, Mahler, Ravel, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, and more. The Season opens with a special concert honoring local heroes and the power of the human spirit during this past year with a performance of BEETHOVEN’s powerful Ninth Symphony and continues with a concert of healing featuring ROSSINI’s Stabat Mater which combines spiritual reflection with operatic drama, passion, love, and loss. The Season culminates with BIZET’s ever-popular opera Carmen featuring an all-star cast.
NON-SERIES CONCERTS
The Symphony also announces the Non-Series Concerts for the 2021-2022 Season. These concerts include the four-decade tradition of Christmas in the Cathedral (Monday, December 13); a special MOZART by CANDELIGHT concert (Saturday, November 13); and the Intrepid Credit Union Symphony Under the Stars in partnership with Carroll College is scheduled for Saturday, July 17 and will be confirmed as the Symphony and Carroll continue to work in consultation with public health officials.
BENEFIT CONCERT
The special Benefit Concert on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the private Helena estate of acclaimed European actors Nick Wilder & Christine Mayn is a fundraiser for the Helena Symphony. A Night in Hollywood at Montana Ting is the red-carpet event featuring exquisite food, an incredible sunset, along with the greatest sounds from movie soundtracks– all in one of the most breathtaking settings in Montana! Tickets are on sale now ($150 per person).
EDUCATION CONCERT SERIES
The Season also includes five FREE Education Concerts throughout the season, complete with narration, actors, and multi-media presentations. This includes the annual Youth Concert for almost 2,000 regional 4th and 5th graders, which will be arranged with school districts.
