The fragility of freedom is explored through these two revolutionary composers. Shostakovich’s pulsing and militaristic Tenth Symphony explores tragedy, despair, terror, violence, and ultimately individual freedom. The testament to and celebration of humankind culminates with Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, complete with celebrated pianist Christopher Hahn, 6 vocal soloists, 80 singers, and 65 players.
