The Helena Symphony bursts back into the concert hall on Saturday February 21st with Bernstein & Beethoven!
With his Chichester Psalms, Leonard Bernstein illuminates a path to eternal peace. As a revolution and a revelation, Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3, Eroica, changed music forever, complete with dramatic grandeur, sorrow, and personal and political triumph.
“Moving and powerful, the Helena Symphony’s Bernstein & Beethoven will be a stunning concert that cannot be missed. We look forward to performing with the Carroll College Choir and a soloist from the Madeleine Choir School, as well as our fabulous Helena Symphony Chorale. This is a must attend concert this Season!” – Cameron Knight, Director of Development & Communications
“There are very few defining moments in music history that drastically altered the future of music. Within this one work, music was changed virtually overnight. From the outset of two opening chords of the Third Symphony Beethoven broke open the formal structures of the Classical period of Mozart and Haydn and forever changed the course of music,” says Maestro Allan R. Scott. “The Eroica was Beethoven’s artistic creed where the art and the artist were forever linked. Music would never be thought of again as merely commissions, but they were emotional and intellectual creative outlets for composers to voice their thoughts, opinions, and, for Beethoven – ideals.”
